View of the Grand Canyon, South Rim, Grand Canyon, Arizona on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Stunning shadows adorn the canyon. (Georgia York / Conestoga College Journalism)
Something you simply need to see in person, no camera will ever do justice to the way this view makes you feel. It is as if you are looking at a backdrop on someone's computer screen. The canyons go down so deep that if you have binoculars you'll be able to see tiny houses on the very bottom. It is something you could stare at for hours from all different perspectives and viewpoints and still not get bored. Unless your legs start hurting because it can be quite the walk/hike.
I absolutely love the way the clouds cast a shadow on the mountains below them, it is such a magical image to me and one I am proud of.

Grand Canyon squirrel enjoying his view, South Rim, Grand Canyon, Arizona on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Sitting so still as tourists gather. (Georgia York / Conestoga College Journalism)
This squirrel was having tourists believe he wasn't real. He stood so still and I'm so happy I got to capture this silly moment. He looks so powerful sitting on top of this rock which was actually around 10 feet tall! As I've mentioned in one of my recent blogs the squirrels at the Grand Canyon are very comfortable with their surroundings and not afraid of the locals/tourists around them.
